The Adult Choir practices on
Wednesday evenings in Adamich Hall from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and usually sings
at the 11:00am Mass every Sunday, unless there is a Family Mass scheduled. Contemporary/Folk Choir
The Choir practices on Wednesday
evenings in the church from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. This choir usually sings at the
9:30am Mass every Sunday, unless there is a Family Mass scheduled. Children's ChoirThe Children's Choir is composed of children in grades 3-8 from both the Parish school and the School of Religion. Choirs practice in Adamich Hall on Tuesday afternoons. Together they sing at Family Masses and other special liturgies throughout the year. Resurrection ChoirThe Resurrection choir sings at most of the funeral liturgies in the parish. It is composed of men and women who arrive 15 minutes prior to the Liturgy. No other rehearsals are scheduled. Education MinistriesLibrary Volunteer
Our parish library is located in
the vestibule of church. There are over 600 books and a variety of videos
for all ages. Items may be borrowed for up to two weeks. Volunteers staff
the library before and after the Sunday morning Masses. RCIA-Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
Catechists (instructors) and
Sponsors instruct Catechumens (the unbaptized) and Candidates (those
baptized but who have not received the Eucharist or Confirmation) who wish
to complete their initiation into the Catholic Faith. Sessions are held
weekly from October through Easter. Marriage Preparation/Pre-Cana Weekends
Volunteers meet with couples
preparing for marriage to mentor and provide assistance in their planning
for this Sacrament. Baptismal Preparation
This Ministry instructs and
prepares parents who wish to baptize their newborns into the Faith.
Volunteers meet with the new or prospective parents for one evening to
explain the Sacrament and answer questions. Classes, led by parent couples,
meet once each month. Attendance by the newborn's parents is required before
the Baptism is scheduled. Small Group Scripture Study
Small groups of parishioners meet
together to pray and discuss scripture or other spiritual books.
Opportunities to gather during the Advent and Lenten Seasons and other times
during the year. Youth Ministry Participants
The mission of the Most Holy
Redeemer Youth Ministry provides opportunities for high school students to
actively participate and grow in their faith. Activities include a weekly
drop-in, youth trips, and involvement in Parish liturgies with youth-hosted
Masses. A Christ Renews His Parish weekend retreat for teens is offered
along with many service opportunities including a summer trip to a work camp
in Kentucky. This Ministry is offered in partnership with St. John Fisher
Parish.
School of ReligionOur Parish's Religious Education Program provides instruction for elementary students who attend public schools to foster their religious formation and incorporate Christian values and traditions into their daily living experiences.

The mission of Most Holy Redeemer
School is to provide the youth of Most Holy Redeemer Parish opportunities
for intellectual, spiritual, moral, and educational growth. Our School is
committed to educating the young to be followers of Jesus Christ and His
Gospel teachings, life long learners, and people of prayer, service, and
community building.
Human Concerns MinistriesHuman Concerns Commission
The Human Concerns Commission
focuses on the needs of the economically poor, disabled, hospitalized,
homebound, and the fragile. Our mission is to promote the attitude of our
Church and society, which advances the fundamental respect of the dignity of
all human beings. Catholic Charities Sponsor-a-Family
Our Parish participates in the
Sponsor-a-Family program, a month-long effort to collect Christmas gifts for
the many children and families served by Catholic Charities. Parishioners
are invited to help make their Christmas joyous and happy. Parents are
encouraged to have their children participate. The program runs from
November 15th through December 15th annually. Su Casa Soup Kitchen
Volunteers prepare and serve meals
four times a year at the Su Casa Soup Kitchen located at 51st and Laflin in
Chicago. Food is either donated or paid for from monetary donations.
Meetings to coordinate these meals are held prior to our service date. Drivers
Volunteers drive parishioners to
Sunday Mass and medical appointments on an as-needed basis. St. Vincent De Paul Society
This is an international Catholic
organization of laypersons that seek to help those who are suffering. At
Most Holy Redeemer, the Society assists families residing within our parish
boundaries that are in material or financial need. The work is carried out
in strictest confidence through a spirit of love and compassion. The human
dignity and integrity of those being helped is always respected. Hospital Visitors
These volunteers visit parishioners
who are patients at Little Company of Mary or Christ Hospital on a weekly
schedule. Training, through Vicariate programs, is required for
certification. PADS
These volunteers staff a local PADS
Shelter providing an evening meal and assistance for the homeless for two
hours one evening per month. Respect Life
The Committee promotes pro-life
activities including a Respect Life Liturgy on the anniversary of the Roe v.
Wade decision. Through the parish bulletin, it publishes information from
the Cardinal's
office for Life. Various
fundraisers held throughout the year include the Annual Mother's
Day Geranium Sale. The proceeds from
the Sale assists women and saves lives of unborn children. Ministry of Care
The Care Ministry seeks to be a
sign of Christ's
presence to our homebound. Specific groups within this ministry
include: Eucharistic Ministers to the sick and homebound and those in the
hospitals and the Parish nursing program. Parish Life MinistriesHospitality and Welcome Committee
The Hospitality Committee fosters a
spirit of welcome to new parishioners and strengthens the spirit of
community within the parish. We are always seeking new ways to expand ways
to welcome new parishioners and families. The participation of new members
would be particularly helpful. Garden Club/Landscaping
The Garden club assists in the
beautification of the Parish plant. They help with landscaping as well as
seasonal planting. Construction and Maintenance Volunteers
If you have expertise in any field
of construction, electrical,
plumbing, or technology we
ask for your assistance on
small projects around the church and school. Carnival Volunteer
A major fundraiser, this annual
event is held each June. The MHR parking lot is used for rides, games, food,
and a beer garden. This event is an opportunity for the members of the
parish to work and enjoy five days of fun together. Women's Guild
The Women's Guild is open to all
the women of the parish. In addition to a monthly meeting, the Guild
provides a number of social and spiritual activities for the women of the
parish including the annual Mother-Daughter breakfast. Men's Club
The Men's Club is open to all men
of the parish. In addition to monthly meetings, the Men's
Club sponsors a number of
events throughout the year including the annual turkey roast, the Christmas
breakfast, and the annual Golf Outing. Women's Golf League
The Women's Golf league is open to
all women of the parish. Men's Golf League
The Men's Golf league is open to
all men of the parish. Parish Leadership MinistriesParish Pastoral Council
The Parish Pastoral Council serves
as a liaison between the pastor, our various parish commissions, and the
deanery. Members serve three-year terms and attend monthly meetings. Duties
include supporting existing ministries, assessing parish needs, and finding
ways to reach goals consistent with our mission. The Council meets the third
Tuesday of each month. Members are elected for three-year terms. Parish Finance Council
The Parish Finance Council assists
the Pastor in the administration of the temporal goods of the parish.
Members assist in the preparation of the parish budget, publication of the
annual report, approval of extraordinary expenditures, and consult on the
management of parish funds. The pastor appoints the six council members for
terms of three years. Parish Stewardship Committee
The Stewardship Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining
Stewardship as a way of life within our parish. Their primary responsibility
is to inspire parishioners to draw closer to Christ and become more involved
in the mission of our parish through their gifts of time, talent, and
treasure. Among other tasks, members direct the Stewardship Renewal
Campaign, assist with the Annual Leadership Retreat, and provide contact
information to the Heads of Ministries for those parishioners who volunteer
to participate in any Parish Ministry.
