FOOD SERVICE FOR SENIORS:
Gilhooley's, along with Country House Restaurant, has started a community initiative of serving daily free meals to senior citizens.  They are offering a different meal every day with soup.  All they need are a name, address, and phone number. The meal is usually delivered within the hour.  They are also offering a family meal for $25 which will serve 4 people. If you know any seniors in need or who are home-bound please let them know about this service.  Stay safe and healthy.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Are you having Mass?
We will be recording and/or streaming Mass as we are able.  Mass links will be posted on our social media channels and here on our website. Masses will not be open to the public until at least Easter and possibly longer. Masses can also be found using this Archdiocese link.

Did I read that right?  There will be no Easter Mass?
We intend to celebrate Easter Mass, but it will not be celebrated publicly.  Details will be updated as soon as they are finalized.

Is the church open for private prayer each day?
Though we were offering private prayer, the state shutdown has mandated that chapels and churches be shut down. The church and adoration chapel will no longer be open for private prayer. At least until the order is lifted. We will announce when the church and adoration chapel can reopen for private prayer.

Are parish events taking place?
Currently, all parishes are closed indefinitely.  All scheduled events through at least March 30 are canceled or postponed. We will announce via social media, our bulletin, and here on our website when events are rescheduled.

Can I contact the parish?
Of course!  Parish staff are working remotely and best accessible by email. You may also call the parish office at 708-425-5354.  If no one is available to take your call, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we are able.

Why are bells ringing at 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm?
Cardinal Cupich has asked Catholic parishes to ring their church bells five times a day, as a means of calling all to unite in prayer during the COVID-19 pandemic. The prayer times are at 9 a.m. and 12, 3, 6, and 9 p.m. each day. Each of the five prayer times will be dedicated to a specific group particularly affected by the pandemic.  (more info) Listen closely for our bells and join with us in prayer each day.

Is the parish able to pay its staff/bills?

The operations of the parish are funded by parishioners including weekly offertory, donations, and other gifts (such as bequests).  The parish is most certainly seeing reduced contributions and donations which is negatively affecting the current budget.  We are taking all steps necessary to see staff are paid for their work and bills are paid.

Can I make a donation?
Yes!  You can make a donation online or mail in your check (or cash).  If mailing, please send to:
Most Holy Redeemer Parish
9525 S. Lawndale Ave.
Evergreen Park, IL 60805
As noted, the operations of the parish rely exclusively on the donations and contributions of our faith community.

How is the school and other ministries affected?
MHR School shifted immediately to an eLearning plan to ensure learning is still available and taking place. Attendance is taken and assignments are provided in all subjects to be graded in a similar fashion as it would if school were in session.  The school’s objective is to provide as complete a curriculum as is possible, despite the rapid shift to alternate/eLearning. Our maintenance staff has been deep cleaning all areas of the parish campus, making it safe for staff and visitors.  Maintenance staff will continue to monitor the buildings during the “stay at home” state directive. Parish staff are working remotely to best serve the needs of our parishioners.

Who do I contact with additional questions?
Please contact the parish office at 708-425-5354 or send an email to a parish staff member.
